The Gujarat government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global electronics manufacturing leader Jabil, marking a major step in expanding the state’s manufacturing capabilities. The agreement, signed on Thursday, outlines Jabil’s plan to establish an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) facility in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.
The MoU was formalized between Gujarat’s Science and Technology Department and Jabil in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The new facility will cater to a variety of industries, including networking, automotive, capital equipment, and other related sectors. With this move, Jabil aims to further strengthen its foothold in India and contribute to the country’s growing electronics manufacturing sector.
Expected to become operational by 2027, the facility in Dholera will generate around 5,000 jobs, contributing to the region’s economic growth. Jabil's Operations Director B N Shukla and Manish Gurvan, Mission Director of the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM), were signatories on behalf of their respective organizations.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the strategic importance of Dholera SIR, stating, "This partnership will bolster the state’s tech ecosystem by creating high-skill employment opportunities and delivering cutting-edge products. Dholera SIR’s ready-to-use infrastructure and strong logistical framework make it an ideal location for advanced manufacturing, aligning perfectly with the Prime Minister's 'Make in India' vision."
